Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 1, 2026  ·  Last Updated: July 1, 2026

1. Introduction

BetaLobby ("we," "us," or "our") is a mutual closed-testing platform that helps independent Android developers reach the Google Play closed-testing threshold by exchanging real installs and 14-day check-ins. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

By using the BetaLobby mobile application or website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Google Account Data: When you sign in via Google Sign-In, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo URL. We do not receive or store your Google password.
  • App Submissions: When you submit an app for testing, you provide a Google Play test link or Android package name. We automatically fetch publicly available metadata (app title, icon, screenshots, version, content rating) from Google Play.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Identifier: We collect a unique device identifier (Capacitor Device UUID) solely to prevent multiple accounts on the same device from abusing the credit system. This identifier is not linked to advertising IDs or shared with any third party.
  • Usage Data: We record your testing activity within BetaLobby — specifically: which apps you chose to test, daily check-in timestamps, and credit balance changes. This data is essential to operate the fair queuing system.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

BetaLobby does not collect:

  • Precise or approximate device location
  • Contacts, call logs, or SMS data
  • Photos, videos, or files from your device
  • Microphone or camera input
  • An inventory of other installed apps (beyond Google Play public metadata)
  • Health, fitness, or financial data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information solely to:

  • Authenticate you and maintain your account.
  • Operate the mutual-testing credit system (earn, spend, and track 🍰 credits).
  • Manage the first-come-first-served testing queue.
  • Verify 14-day check-in compliance and finalize test results.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse (e.g., multi-account detection via device ID).
  • Send local on-device notifications to remind you of daily check-ins (no push notification server is used).

We do not use your personal data for profiling, behavioral advertising targeting, or any purpose beyond operating the Service.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Google Sign-In

Authentication is handled via Google Sign-In. Google's collection and use of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4.2 Google AdMob

BetaLobby displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device information and use advertising identifiers to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, depending on your device settings and consent preferences. For details, see How Google Uses Information from Sites or Apps That Use Our Services.

We do not pass any BetaLobby user data (email, name, testing history) to AdMob. Only standard AdMob SDK data collection applies.

4.3 Google Groups

To participate in closed testing, users join a Google Group. We verify membership status via a server-side check. We do not access your Google Groups content or contacts.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to any third party, ever.

No user identity is exposed to other users. BetaLobby does not display your name, email, or profile photo to other participants. The only information visible in the testing lobby is publicly available Google Play Store metadata (app title, icon, screenshots) — which is already public on Google Play.

We may disclose data only when required by law, court order, or governmental request.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on a self-hosted PocketBase server. All communication between the app and server is encrypted using HTTPS (TLS). We implement reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active.

Account Deletion: You may request removal of your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon receiving your request, we will within 30 days:

  • Delete all personal identity information (email address, display name, profile photo, and device identifier).
  • Anonymizefunctional records (check-in history, credit transactions, and testing participation) that are necessary to maintain the integrity of other users' active tests. These anonymized records cannot be traced back to you.

8. Children's Privacy

BetaLobby is intended for Android developers and is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., EU/EEA under GDPR, California under CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Request data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
